Tom Keels has done it again! Author of “Forgotten Philadelphia” and “Wicked Philadelphia'” Tom Keels’ new book released by Arcadia Press on 2/27/12, is a pictorial overview of the city’s dear departed department and specialty stores. Come see the glamorous stores of yesterday. Along Market Street, John Wanamaker’s, Gimbels, Strawbridge & Clothier, Lit Brothers and N. Snellenburg. On nearby Chestnut and Walnut Sts., the carriage trade selected silver and jewelry at J. E. Caldwell & Co., and Bailey Banks & Biddle, haute couture at Nan Duskin and the Blum Store and men’s clothing at Jacob Reed’s Sons. Our northwest part of the city once offered Allen’s and Rowell’s on Chelter Ave. The book will be available for purchase and signing.
